Pumba’s Miraculous Rescue by the Earthlings Trust

Pumba’s Miraculous Rescue by the Earthlings Trust

Have you ever wondered whether an injured puppy on the street will survive? You and many others just passed it, only feeling pity for the poor paw. Many stray animals suffer silently, and every day, countless more endure fatal accidents. Tragically, around 70% of the estimated dogs struck by vehicles in India die from lack of timely medical assistance.

A small, helpless puppy, Pumba, was practically another case from this data. But destiny had other ideas. God has shown his trust in Earthlings Trust and sent us to rescue that kiddo.

A Life Hanging by a Thread

One day at Earthlings Trust, a distress call arrived. A passerby had seen a motionless 3-month-old puppy, hardly breathing, on the side of the road. He lay in terror after being struck on the head by a fast-moving car, his fragile body fighting against the pain. People walked past; some looked at him sympathetically, but none stopped to assist.

Our crew came and witnessed two scared eyes begging for rescue. His tiny body was motionless. We realized there was no time to lose. We gently raised him, praying he would hold on, and hurried him to our veterinary partners.

The vet’s first examination was negative—severe internal damage, several fractures, and a dangerously low pulse. He was in a coma for over 1 month. Many people asked to put it to sleep, but we would not give up on him. After the courageous, jolly character from The Lion King, we called him Pumba and decided to give him another go.

Our crew worked nonstop for weeks, tending to his wounds, giving him careful food, and showering him with affection he had never felt. Gradually, the swelling in his brain reduced, and he gained consciousness. Weak but hopeful, we knew he was a fighter the first time he waved his tail. He beat the odds daily, his spirit refusing to be crushed.

With medicines, love and care, his situation got better. We fed him milk and other liquid foods; he started eating and moving. But he keeps revolving around because of his neurological discomfort. After some time, with the efforts of our team, his condition improved and improved.

Months later, Pumba walked his first steps with relentless commitment. That event was a miracle. Once dead on the road, the same puppy was suddenly energetic and ready for a lifetime home. Now, he is one year old, and he started loving us.

Earthlings Trust: A Beacon of Hope

Earthlings Trust, a Noida-based NGO, has been on the front lines, rescuing, caring, and rehabbing hurt and abandoned animals for years. The narrative of Pumba is only one among the hundreds we witnessed. Our goal beyond these rescues is to build a society based on compassion whereby no injured animal is left behind.

But we cannot do this alone.

We heartily appeal to everyone: Do not turn away if you spot an injured animal. Call a rescue squad, offer water, or drive them to the closest veterinarian. A small act of kindness might make all the difference between life and death.

A Message From the Earthlings Trust

Pumba’s path from pain to survival demonstrates the value of every life. Thousands like him are waiting for someone to see, care about, and act upon. Though we represent them, you are needed to stand alongside us. Working together, we can create a society in which no wounded animal is left to die alone. Let us make kindness the standard.

Animals depend on us; they cannot ask for help, yet we may be their voice. Every action counts—from meals to accident reporting to helping organisations serve their welfare. Earthlings Trust is dedicated to ensuring no voiceless creature goes ignored, but we also need more hands, hearts, and awareness to influence things.

Come beside us. Talk out loud. Act right now. A rescued animal is a story retold, a second opportunity at love and protection, not only a life spared.

Will you be a part of this transition? If you ever encounter a wounded stray, act without delay. Your assistance will enable another Pumba to live. You can contact us at the given number if you are in Noida.
